As you'd expect, children are at the very heart of everything we do at William Rhodes. We know that great relationships are the bedrock of successful teaching and learning and do all that we can to ensure our classrooms are happy, vibrant places where children feel safe and secure and ready to learn.
We encourage children to try their very best at all times and teach them that through hard work and perseverance, they are most likely to succeed. We plan exciting learning opportunities each and every day so that children are always enthusiastic and engaged.
We know that learning doesn't just happen in the classroom and that often the most memorable experiences for children are those where they've experienced something new, or been out of their comfort zone. This is why we consider our visits to be so important. This year the children have visited Lea Green and Great Hucklow for amazing character building residentials; London to see the Houses of Parliament and meet their 'kindred spirits' from Brettenham Primary; Bolsover Castle, Cresswell Crags & Weston Park Museum to deepen their understanding of the world, Derby to explore different faiths & beliefs; Canon Hall Farm, Yorkshire Wildlife Park & Chatsworth Farm Yard to learn about animals and their habitats.
Our children have also experienced lots of sporting challenges and exciting competitions this year as well as performing in our nativity play, carol concert and end of year production.
We recognise that there are many challenges in our community and do all that we can to support our children and their families. We offer a free daily breakfast club, a nurture group for our most vulnerable children and numerous free after-school clubs. Our Children & Family Support Worker offers parenting and family learning, guidance with managing household budgets and information and support for those experiencing domestic violence.
You can see from our holistic approach we care deeply about all our children, their families and our very special community.
