World Book Day 2021
It's World Book Day and we are going on a pirate adventure! First, there is the story 'The Pirates Next Door' about a boy and his family. Next, we are pretending to go and have an adventure so grab your cutlass and your telescope and let's go and find some treasure! There is a yo-ho-ho PE pirate lesson and finally the hilarious story, 'Pirates Love Underpants' to end the day.
This is the first year there has been a World Book Day song. Listen to the song and watch the video and see how many books you can spot. Every child has a £1 voucher waiting at school to spend on a special £1 book or to use as a voucher towards another book. These will be handed out on Monday.
I hope to see you on Teams at 1.30pm today. I would love to see your craft activities and hear about your adventures. We will be having a special book raffle too.
Wednesday 3rd March
Keep an eye of those cress seeds and see if they need anymore water.
Please listen to today's story before the cress seed activity as it will help to develop your child's understanding and give them an opportunity to build their vocabulary.
Tuesday 23 February
Today I have included 3 short videos from BBC teach. There are 14 in total which tell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and I will be posting 2 or 3 videos every day for the children to watch and enjoy.
Friday 29th January
Thursday 28th January
Today I have added a link from Numberblocks with the focus on more than and fewer than. To help boost their understanding, you can ask your child throughout the day if there are more items or fewer items between two groups of objects from around the house.
Thank you for your support.
Wednesday 27th January
I have included the text 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' as a link for retelling the story. You will see me model it today with actions. Please use the text to tell the story and ask your child to help you and join in with the actions. We will retell the story lots of times this week in our activities and soon the children will take on board the story for themselves.
I have also added a music activity today to use our lovely home-made castanets or you can hand clap to a simple repeated rhythm.
Lastly, another lovely story from Schoolreaders about a polar bear.
Tuesday 26th January
I have included 2 links for you today. The first is Michael Rosen performing 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and the second one is another story from Schoolreaders about the loveable Bear family that the children know very well.
Monday 25 January
Today you will need 2 plastic milk bottle tops, scissors, glue or sticky tape and card, like a cereal box. You can choose to decorate as you please and once made don't forget to email me a photograph.
