Weeks 1 & 2 Activities - Mrs Charles is now a YouTuber!
-
Activity 1
Boogaloo – you enjoyed this so much in school I thought you might like to show your family.
-
Activity 2
Dip, dip, dip – an action song that I’m teaching this week. I’ll then show you a harder version next week!
-
Activity 3
Rhythm challenge – do you remember our ta, te te and sh cards? I’m giving you a reminder in this video. Can you perform them with the music at the end of the video? Don’t clap in the sh! It’s quite fast so feel free to stop, rewind the video and have another go. Show your family, can they do the rhythm challenge?
-
Activity 4
Splat game – we were playing this in school on our instruments. This time you need 4 objects that make a noise when you tap them. Use a stick, pencil, pen or anything you’ve got as your drumstick. Ask if you can use pottery cups or glass jars/bottles. They make a satisfying sound but you need to be careful as they can break if you tap them too hard!
MUSIC Week 3 Activities
-
Activity 1
The Bare Necessities. – show someone at home the actions we learnt in school.
-
Activity 2
Dip, dip, dip – an action song we learnt last week. Here is a slightly harder version!
-
Activity 3
Rhythm challenge – last week we used my rhythms to play the rhythm challenge. Can you make your own rhythms this week using ta te-te and sh?
-
Activity 4
Splat game – Did you enjoy playing this game as much as I did making the video? This week, you need 4 cups or glass jars and some water. We are going to try changing the pitch of the sound. Ask first and be careful. They make a satisfying sound but they can break if you tap them too hard! Don’t fill the objects up too full and keep the water away from electric devices.
Music Activities Week 4 & 5
More Music Magic from Mrs Charles!
-
Activity 1 part 1
Brave – only 2 patterns for this piece but the rhythms are tricky. I’m showing the 2 patterns slowly on the first video.
-
Activity 1 part 2
On the 2nd one, the 2 people are performing the piece. Can you keep up, it goes quite fast. Do you notice anything about the 2 patterns? Are the rhythms different or the same?
-
Activity 2
Dip, dip, dip – an action song we learnt last week. We are looking at the different pitches this week. Remember pitch is the musical term for a high or low note. You’ll need to write the words down of the song. Leave a gap between the lines as you’ll be writing down if it’s a high or a low note afterwards.
-
Activity 3
I’m going to show you how to write C and B so you’ll need pen and paper for this one.
Music Activities Week 6
How did you get on with last week’s activities.? Did you manage to open all the links? Here are some more for this week.

-
Activity 2
You’ll need paper and pen. Draw 5 lines for your musical stave. New note this week. Is it going to be higher or lower in pitch than B and C?
-
Activity 3
Dip, dip, dip – last week we looked at the different pitches. Remember pitch is the musical term for a high or low note. You’ll need your words from last week. We are working out what the actual notes are for this piece.
