Our Values & Ethos

Our vision is embodied in our school logo. We want our school to be a beacon of hope and good practice. The helping hands reach out to offer support to everyone in our very special school community.

As you'd expect, children are at the very heart of everything we do at William Rhodes and keeping children safe is our number one priority. We always endeavour to have open, positive and respectful relationships with children and their families.

We know that great relationships are the bedrock of successful teaching and learning and do all that we can to ensure our classrooms are happy, vibrant places where children feel safe and secure and ready to learn.

We encourage children to try their very best at all times and teach them that through hard work and perseverance, they are most likely to succeed. We plan exciting learning opportunities each and every day so that children are always enthusiastic and engaged.

We know that learning doesn't just happen in the classroom and that often the most memorable experiences for children are those where they've experienced something new, or been out of their comfort zone. This is why we consider our visits to be so important.

Our children also have opportunities to compete against their peers in sports as well as taking part in exciting competitions with local schools in academic subjects. They also get to perform in our nativity play, carol concert and end of year production.

We recognise that there are many challenges in our community and do all that we can to support our children and their families. We offer a free daily breakfast club and a number of free after-school clubs. We can offer parenting support and help to connect you with other agencies such as Citizen's Advice, Chesterfield Food Bank or a tenancy support worker if you are experiencing severe difficulties.

You can see from our holistic approach we care deeply about all our children, their families and our very special community.
