Safeguarding Through the Curriculum

Safeguarding is interwoven throughout our curriculum, both within discrete subjects such as computing and RSHE and through discussions around our global themes. In our assemblies, we explore and discuss a range of issues, from understanding consent to spotting fake news, ensuring that a wide range of topics are covered and children understand:

  • what healthy relationships look like: including families, friendships, respectful relationships online and in person, consent and being safe
  • how to look after their physical and mental wellbeing: including healthy eathing, the importance of exercise, physical health and fitness, sleep routines, basic first aid, changing bodies and the effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco
  • how to stay safe online: including contact, commerce, conduct and content and what to do if you are worried

How to keep children safe online

We take our duty to help children stay safe online very seriously. We have regular workshops where we teach junior children about how to keep their profile secure, how to report abuse, cyber bullying, sexting, trolling and gaming. Parents attended a forum with the theme online safety where they shared their experiences and were given information to help and support them.

If you’re worried about online abuse or the way someone has been communicating online you can report it by following the link below:
